Role 03Careers
Manufacturing engineer
The translator between the shop floor and the software.
01Hyle
Hyle Industries is building intelligence-native infrastructure for engineering and manufacturing: models that understand engineering, geometry, and manufacturing end to end, an API that exposes manufacturing to software, and a factory that makes the parts. The goal is to collapse the time between an idea and a physical part.
02The role
You know what a lathe sub-spindle is and what a REST API is, and you can explain each to the people who only know the other. You will deliver DFM feedback to customers, own cycle time and should-cost estimation for quoting, and turn manufacturing reality into requirements our engineers and our models can build against.
03You will
- Deliver customer-facing DFM feedback across the processes we run.
- Own cycle time estimation and should-cost analysis for quoting and manufacturability decisions.
- Translate what the shop knows into requirements, test cases, and data that software and models can build against.
- Take ownership of whole systems, procurement included.
04You bring
- Experience across processes: 3D printing (FDM, SLA, SLS); CNC milling, 3 and 4 axis; CNC turning with sub-spindle and Y axis; 2D and 2.5D cutting (laser, waterjet); CAM, Fusion 360 preferred.
- Machining fundamentals: workholding and fixture design, tooling, speeds and feeds; G-code and post-processors; machine controllers; slicing for additive.
- Time at a job shop or a digital manufacturing platform, and with the software that runs one.
- Strong CAD (Onshape, Fusion 360, or similar) and GD&T fluency (ASME Y14.5): reading and producing drawings, tolerance stack-ups.
- Understanding of geometry representations: STEP against STL and 3MF, B-rep against mesh, watertight and manifold.
- Inspection: first article inspection; calipers, micrometers, and gauges; ideally CMM or automated metrology; surface finish.
- Enough software to be dangerous: Python, git, the command line, and agentic coding tools.
05Nice to have
- Industrial robots and automation; OPC UA; lights-out manufacturing.
- Mechatronics, and projects that prove it.
- Process capability thinking and quality-system familiarity, at the ISO 9001 level.
- Material and finish selection; knowledge of off-the-shelf hardware.
06What we expect
You move fast and you sweat the details. You take responsibility for the whole system, not just your piece of it. You push to make everything around you better.
07Compensation
Salary and equity set by the role and by your experience, and stated in the first conversation. Health, dental, and vision cover. Relocation to Marietta if you need it.
